The Yan’s Restaurant Peewee Tier 3 Silvertips played a pair of games at home this past weekend, emerging victorious in both contests.

With just over four minutes left in the first period against Kamloops, Saturday at the Shaw Centre, Gage Perrell would open the scoring shorthanded for the home team, driving hard to the net before firing a wrist shot past the Kamloops netminder. Another shorthanded marker just into the second period put the Tips up by two.

With three Kamloops players draped over him, Jaden Bitz battled from the blue line into the slot, where he slipped the puck between the goalie’s pads. Perrell would get his second of the game a short time later, strong board play by his line-mates set him up in front of the net for the one-timer. The Tips gained momentum from there, as they rolled into the third period. Trent Thiessen released a howitzer from the point six minutes into the frame, beating the goaltender high on the glove side. Linden Walters would deposit the rebound of a Perrell shot half way through the third period. Bitz would get his second with more than five minutes left, capping off a 6-0 final score.

It only took the Tips 20 seconds to get on the board against the Revelstoke Grizzly’s Sunday, in town.

Caleb DeHoog, blasted past a Revelstoke defender before ripping a shot over the goalie’s pad. Sean Freed would release a booming slap shot from the point for the Tips’ second goal a few moments later.

The home side tallied two more goals from Oscar Mayes and Gord Squires before the first intermission. The second period continued the same way as the first for the Tips. Perrell walked out from the corner shorthanded to put the home team up by five. Connor Levin scored soon after, but Revelstoke fought back and would finally get on the board with just over a minute left in the second. The Tips proved too strong for the visitors, answering back in kind. Trent Thiessen fired a hard wrist shot into the net in the third, and Perrell would get a sweet deflection with 6 minutes left. Squires would round out the scoring for the Tips and complete the hat-trick with another pair late in the period, sending the home team to the locker room with a 10-3 victory.
