Register now for Shuswap youth soccer

Mother Nature may seem undecided about when to launch spring, but at the office of Shuswap Youth Soccer it’s a beehive of activity.

Mother Nature may seem undecided about when to launch spring, but at the office of Shuswap Youth Soccer it’s a beehive of activity as registration for all our outdoor programs is well underway. This is an exciting year for the organization as there have been many changes on and off the field.

The most notable change is the new online registration system. It took a lot of research to find an affordable way to manage the website and make it simple for the 1,100-plus players to navigate and submit their information but the new site recently went live. Visit www.ShuswapSoccer.com to register your player(s) today as the registration deadline is Monday, March 12. Any registrations after that date are subject to a $25 late fee and not guaranteed. No access to Internet? No problem, just stop by the office in person to complete the registration process. The office is located at the indoor facility (or SASCU Memorial Arena) behind Safeway.

Prefer to pay by cheque or draft? It is still possible to mail or drop it off at the office or, if applying for KidSport, just make a note on your registration that you’ve submitted your paperwork to the local KidSport office. The move to online registration is a big change but we’re working hard to accommodate all our members. If you have any questions or concerns call us at 250-833-5607 or email the office atadmin@shuswapsoccer.com.

As a non-profit organization, it’s always a bit of a struggle to keep things affordable for our members while still maintaining a high quality program. After a lot of budget analysis, you will notice that the fees for many age groups have been reduced this year to more accurately reflects the actual costs involved for each division. For example, house registration costs (before the March 12 deadline) are as follows: $50 for U3-U5, $90 for U6-U9, $110 for U10-U13 and $125 for the U14-U18s.

The U3-U5 program is revised this year and we’re pleased to announce that Steve Miller is returning to the field as head coach to these future soccer stars.

With the reduced fees, return to a Saturday morning time slot and the exciting revamp to what will be happening on the field, this is going to be a great program. However, numbers are limited, so be sure to register as soon as possible.

None of our programs would be successful without our volunteers. For as little as two hours a week as a coach or assistant you can make a huge difference to a group of children’s lives.

Team contacts are needed to distribute information to players through the season with limited time devoted to email or phone communication. Division co-ordinators are needed for each age group and almost all of this work is done prior to the start of the season.

If any of these sound like areas that you could help, please indicate on your child’s online registration or you can call or email the office for more details.

Warmer weather and the start of soccer season is on its way, so register your players today and we’ll see you on the pitch soon.
