Salmon Arm Hockey school marks 32 years

The Salmon Arm Hockey School, one of B.C.’s longest running hockey schools, is getting ready for its 32nd year of operation.

The Salmon Arm Hockey School, one of B.C.’s longest running hockey schools, is getting ready for its 32nd year of operation.

Headlining the instructors this year will be veteran head instructor Ryan Marsh from Edmonton’s Vimy Ridge All Sports School. The former University of Alberta and Tri City American captain will begin his 10th year as head instructor. Joining Marsh will be Kamloops Minor Hockey head instructor, George Cochrane, and Greater Vernon Minor Hockey director of hockey and former NHL player, Sandy Moger. Joining the instructional staff for his first year will be head coach of the Salmon Arm SilverBacks, Tim Kehler. Kehler led the SilverBacks to the Interior Division final before bowing out to the Vernon Vipers in six games. Assisting Marsh with the Defencemen School will be former head coach of the SilverBacks, Ty Davidson, who is currently head coach of the Golden Rockets of the KIJHL. It is also expected Sicamous native and Nashville Predator defenceman, Cody Franson, will be making an appearance during the defencemen sessions. A number of junior and college players will be added to the instructional staff as well.

The Pro-formance Goalie School will return for its 10th year at the hockey school as well. Sean Murray, who is currently goaltending coach for the Vancouver Giants and a number of NHL teams, will bring his staff to instruct the aspiring goaltenders.

Aaron Konescni, who is power skating consultant for the Vancouver Canucks, will be handling the elite sessions at the hockey school. Konescni is one of the most-respected power skating instructors in B.C.
