Shuswap Outlaws capture bronze

Shuswap Peewee Outlaws brought home a bronze medal from provincial lacrosse action in Vernon over the weekend.

Shuswap Peewee Outlaws brought home a bronze medal from provincial lacrosse action in Vernon over the weekend.

They played their first game Friday against Delta and came out ahead 9-5. Points went to Brayden Fairley (1G), Kotchaz Corcoran (1G, 3A), Drew Bannister (6G, 2A), Cameron Watson (3A), Jadon Kerr (1A) and Connor Senn (1A). A strong defensive game was played by Ryan Sadorsky and Tye Mitchell. The second game they were defeated by Campbell River 5-2, with both goals from Bannister and assists from Corcoran and Watson. Tyler Dunnett and Julis Steckley played well offensively and defensively.

Saturday, they played a close game against Semiahmoo, and came out on top 5-4. Two goals came from Corcoran and Bannister and one from Watson. Playmakers were Emily New, Watson, Corcoran, each with one assist, and Watson (3A) and Bannister (2A). Ethan Dodge and Jack Calkins played their best games of the season. In the semifinals, they played Coquitlam, who eventually went on to win the tournament. They had a good battle but lost 5-1, with the sole goal from Bannister, assisted by Noah Bumstead. In the bronze-medal game, they came up against North Shore. It was a hard-fought game that ended 6-5 for the Outlaws. Points came from Watson (1G, 2A), Bannister (4G, 1A), Dom Young (1G), Kayne Beaudry (1A), Corcoran (1A), Fairley (1A).  Brandon Giroux-Dewes set many well-placed picks to set up the goals. Noah Bumstead made some huge saves in net to keep the team going.
