The Shuswap Outlaws Midget Lacrosse team finished up their league season this weekend by winning the Thompson-Okanagan Midget Lacrosse League playoffs.

The Outlaws, who were seeded first, received a bye into the semifinal. They drew the North Okanagan Legends and had a tough, hard-fought game which went to overtime. Shuswap went into the 10-minute extra frame with the score tied 7-7. Goals by Brodie Berg, Adam New and Paul Beevor-Potts powered the Outlaws to a 10-8 victory.

In the final against the Kelowna Kodiaks, Shuswap was down 6-3 halfway through the third period. Goalie Robert Letcher then shut the door and the offence responded with five unanswered goals to defeat Kelowna 8-6.

Coaches Mike Berg and John Beevor-Potts were very happy with the results.

“I am proud of these guys,” said Berg. “They have stuck together and played as a unit all year.”

Earlier in the week, the Outlaws had qualified for the provincial tournament with two straight wins over Penticton in a best-of-three playoff. The team will be travelling to Port Coquitlam for the tourney on July 13 to 15.
