A brief look at the sports action lined up for the next week

Brawlers Undefeated

The Salmon Arm Brawlers bantam house hockey team brought home gold medals after winning all five of their games at a tournament in Nakusp over the weekend.

Under the Lights

Family showshoe night under the lights at the Little Mountain Sports Complex, 5-7 p.m. Jan. 26.

Pirate Loppet

Larch Hills will host the elementary school pirate loppet on Friday, Jan. 27, beginning at 10:30 a.m. One, two and five-kilometre routes are available. Hot dogs and hot beverages will be served to young skiers and event volunteers.

Indoor Soccer

Shuswap Youth Soccer Association hosts an indoor soccer tournament on Feb. 11 and 12. U14 boys and girls play on the 11th and U16 boys and girls play on the 12th. Each team will play three 44-minute games.

Bound for provincials

Lorelai Guidos, a Salmon Arm resident who plays third for Carly Connor’s Junior women’s curling rink, is heading to the provincial championships.

The rink qualified by winning a match in 100 Mile House on Jan. 14. Provincials are held in Nanaimo March 16 to 19.

Crossfit games

Salmon Arm Crossfit has named a 15-member roster for the open qualifying portion of the Reebok Crossfit Games. The games themselves are held Aug. 1-6, but the competitors will have to qualify for regionals between Feb. 23 and March 27, and then qualify regionally between May 19 and June 4.

The Salmon Arm team consists of: Brandi McAllister, Cheryl Campbell, Cindy Norris, Cody Crawford, David Gagne, Deena Davis, Derek Leyenhorst, Kellie Goldbaum, Kevin Pattison, Lucas Burton, Nathalie Scharf, Patrick Evanishen, Scott Lequesne, Shauna Lewis and Tynan Schielke.

Bridge results

Results for Jan. 22: First, Shirley and Chuck Buckler, second, Doreen and Dennis Roberts, third, Lynne Storey and John Parton and fourth Peggy Petersen and Ruth Embree.

The bridge club plays every Sunday afternoon at 1 p.m. at the Fifth Avenue Senior Centre and everyone is welcome.
