Another excellent Salty Dog.

Greg Scharf of Skookum Cycle says the weather co-operated at the last minute Sunday, with the rain holding off.

“It was the first dust-free Salty Dog I can remember.”

Due to the rain leading up to the race, the trails were slower, with most racers down a lap over their times last year.

“Folks had to work just as hard to do fewer laps. That doesn’t seem to put a damper on anyone’s enthusiasm or happiness,” he says.

The new Salty Street Fest Saturday was also a hit.

“It was nice to see the community engagement and opportunity for downtown businesses to connect with out-of-town tourists...”

Organizers are grateful for all the support from volunteers and businesses.

Local participants who placed in the top three in their categories are as follows: • In Men’s Team 0-35 combined age, the Seth-Andrew team of Seth VanVarseveld and Andrew Nash placed first and the Konrad-James team of Konrad VanVarseveld and James Hardy were third.

• In the Women’s Team 80-plus combined age, first place went to the team of Sweet and Salty –  Laura Hepburn and Alison Howatt. In second were the Salty Sisters, Monica Nelson and Doris Mills.

• In the Mixed Team 0-38 combined age category, the Skookum T’s – Thea Peasgood and Torey McKee, placed first.

About 75 local racers took part in the Salty Dog, with more in the Salty Pup. For more information on winners, go to Zone4.ca.
