Take a hike, win a prize with trail alliance

Shuswap Trail Alliance summer student Rebecca Howes is challenging people to take a hike and possibly win a prize.

“I am challenging everyone and their friends and family to hike once a week because I believe that hiking is a great way to stay healthy, get outdoors, experience the beauty of the Shuswap and spend some quality time with friends and family,” says Howes, adding she will be completing every hiking challenge she proposes on www.shuswaptrails.com. The trail alliance is offering prizes to encourage others to do the same.

“Not only that, but I’m going to tell you when I’m going out and if you can locate me, (Rebecca) the Becca Beacon, on the trail and get a picture with me, you just doubled your entries for that week.”

A new hike will be posted to the website, Facebook and Twitter every Wednesday, and participants have one week to complete the hike and submit an entry via email for a chance to win. Prize winners will be selected Aug. 17. Those who take part in this year’s Routes and Blues hikes will have receive additional entry.

Prizes include two tickets to the trail alliance’s February Auction Fundraiser, two $25 gift cards to Moose Mulligans in Sicamous, two canyon tour vouchers for Treetop Flyers in Chase and a movie pass for two to the Starlight Drive-In.
