Ted triumph

Temperatures were in the mid 30s as Ted United faced off against Vernon’s Controllers July 23 in Vernon. The team did well in working the ball up the wings with give-and-go passing, resulting in a quick goal in the first minutes of play. Shortly after, defender Krista Jonker blasted a shot on the opposing net and Bonnie Kelly was there to  tap in the rebound to put Ted up by two. A well-placed throw-in from Cathy Bartsch put Kyla Sherman on a breakaway to score her second of the game while Kelly got another rebound, this time off of a shot from midfielder Tricia Martin. Kelly found the net one more time before half, giving her a well-deserved hat trick.  The second half was a considerably slower soccer game as both teams were feeling the effects of the hot sun. Goalie Linda Yawney saw a little more action in the last 20 minutes of play and was once again  a wall in net making some key saves for Salmon Arm.  Controllers finally got on the score sheet when they were rewarded a spot shot in the dying minutes of the game. Final score 5-1.
