The deadline that Saudi Arabia and its allies set for Qatar to submit to their “non-negotiable” demands was postponed to Wednesday, July 5. Since Qatar has already made it plain that it will not comply – it says the demands are “reminiscent of the extreme and punitive conduct of ‘bully’ states that have historically resulted in war” – the delay is a sure sign that the bullies don’t know what to do next.

Topping the stairs to a friend’s home at Tappen a couple days ago, I was confronted by two honey bee hives. Like happy little campers, the bees were targeting a profusion of wild roses surrounding the property. Kathy Meggyesi, owner of the hives, had it figured pretty good, as this gal knows her bees, collecting about 200 lbs of honey a season.
