Salmon Arm RCMP were urging witnesses of an incident involving a hit and run to come forward.

At around 8 p.m. on Dec. 8, officers responded to a report of a pedestrian having been hit by a vehicle. The car involved in the incident was travelling west on 5th Avenue SW, and struck the victim at 3 Street SW.

The victim, a woman in her 40s, was transported to Shuswap Lake General Hospital with significant but non-life threatening injuries.

“The vehicle was described as a light coloured, four-door car or station wagon,” Const. Andrew Hodges said in a media release.

Police ask that any witnesses, and/or anyone with dashcam footage of the described car with front end damage, contact the Salmon Arm detachment at 250-832-6044, and reference file number 2023-7627.

Video surveillance already accessed by police shows the incident occurring between 7:49 p.m. and 7:52 p.m. The car, which didn’t appear to slow down after the incident, apparently turned south on 5 Street SW after hitting the woman.

“Police are canvassing nearby businesses for further video evidence, but are hopeful someone in the area witnessed or captured video of the suspect vehicle to help further this investigation,” said Hodges.
