Sargeant joins Sicamous as operations coordinator

Brings 12 years’ experience with City of Airdrie

The District of Sicamous called on a Sargeant to fill the role of operations coordinator.

In an May 1 media release, the district welcomed Cherylee Sargeant who officially joined the team on April 29.

She brings with her experience in operations management, having worked in the parks department for the City of Airdrie, Alta. for almost 12 years. Sargeant started out as a maintenance crew leader and, after just two years, earned the coordinator position that she held for the final 10 years of her career there.

“My main role was the day-to-day operations, including weekend and special community events,” she said in the release. “I was responsible for the operation and maintenance of the local spray park facility and cemetery, and I assisted in the creation of the asset management program for the City of Airdrie.”

In her new role with the district, Sargeant will similarly work closely with the operations manager to coordinate the maintenance and management of district facilities, assets and services.

“A year ago I decided I wanted to move to British Columbia and found a great opportunity to work at Twin Anchors Houseboats as a maintenance technician,” she explained of relocating to Sicamous. “Since being here, I have fallen in love with the area and the people that I have met so far.”

Outside of work, Sargeant makes the most of the Shuswap, hanging out by the river with her dogs, riding her motorbike, camping, golfing and spending time at the lake with friends and family.

“I am excited about meeting new people and learning more about Sicamous,” she added. “I look forward to serving the future needs of the members of this community.”
